The Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI) is hiring:
The NAI is hiring two Legal Counsel to each manage one of three case management divisions at the NAI Secretariat.
The Secretariat handles the administration of arbitration proceedings. It continuously seeks to improve efficiency by offering innovative new arbitration tools and procedures. The Secretariat’s staff also organizes trainings and events, speaks at public events, conducts research and publishes articles.
The main responsibilities of the Legal Counsel include:
You have a Dutch law degree, preferably with international experience gained through an exchange program or an additional LL.M. from a foreign university. You have acquired a minimum of 3-5 years of experience at a law firm, preferably in an international practice with a focus on arbitration or litigation, or with the courts. You are fluent in Dutch and in English.
You have demonstrated strong analytical skills. You are self-confident, enjoy multi-tasking and you have a meticulous eye for detail. You have experience in managing high workloads. In this role, and at public events, you act as an ambassador for the NAI and Dutch arbitration. We are looking for legal professionals with diplomatic skills, who enjoy building bridges and who master networking skills.

The Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI) is the largest general arbitration institute in the Netherlands. As such, it is a solid and innovative organisation with by far the most experience with and knowledge of different forms of ADR. It has an acknowledged reputation for offering qualitative and cost-efficient ADR case management with highly experienced staff, which has administered thousands of domestic and international arbitrations and mediations.
The NAI operates on a non-profit basis and performs its duties independently and impartially. Professor Pieter Sanders, as a founding father of the NAI, as well as Professor Albert Jan van den Berg have chaired the Board of NAI. Professor Sanders was one of the principal drafters of the 1958 New York Convention. He was also recognized for his contributions to the drafting of the 1976 UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. The current Chairman is Professor dr. Gerard Meijer, partner at Linklaters Amsterdam.
